Weston, Frank
(1871–1924)
   Missionary and Bishop.
   Weston was educated at the University of Oxford. After ordination he worked in several slum parishes and in 1901 he was sent as a missionary to East Africa. In 1908 he was consecrated Bishop of Zanzibar. He is primarily remembered for his opposition to the unification of Protestant Churches in East Africa and for his disapproval of the appointment of the liberal B.L. streeter as a Canon of Hertford. In both cases he went so far as to demand the arraignment of his episcopal opponents for heresy. Despite his excesses he was a selfless and devoted ecclesiastic.
